My mail attachments on my iPad2 don't open. Normally these are PDF Files. The mail sync is with VMWare Zimbra on the cloud.

What do I do?

Thanks

Ravi

Have you tried free apps called iZip and Adobe Reader?

If none of your attachments are opening try the usual fixes (listed below), if you have not already.

If it's only certain attachments, check with the sender and find out what type they were (for certain). You may need to get a compatible app.

When you have problems with an app it's a good idea to clear it from RAM.

Close/Clear the app: With the problem app closed, double tap on the Home button to get the multitask bar. Tap and hold on any icon in the bar until they jiggle, then tap the minus sign on the problem app. This will remove it from RAM and insure a clean start the next time you launch the app.

If that does not work try a restart,

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends you restart the iPad at least once a month.

and then a reset if that does not work.

Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.

Thanks. I tried both set of suggestions. Mail attachments typically PDF do not open. This was not always the case. Happening of late. One in ten attachments end up opening. Neither do I get the Open in prompt.

Is there anything different about the source of your attachments? If most of your PDF attachments come from one place or person, perhaps they've started creating them with different software.

Cracked the problem. Had to download the full message before the attachment can open. Thanks

Ah. I didn't think of that.

If the boarder around the attachment is dashed, it has not downloaded yet. A solid boarder indicates the attachment is fully downloaded. Attachments over a certain size (5MB I think) won't download automatically. You have to tap on them and wait for the download.
