Editing a song for iMovies

Can anyone help with this. My son has an iPad2 for use at school. As part of his homework he has to create an advert in iMovies. He has found a piece of music that he wants to use but needs to trim it.

Is there anyway to do this? The ipad can't be synced to my PC (not allowed by the school) so has to be edited on the iPad itself.

Upload the file to Dropbox so he can download it to his iPad...then use Garageband or one of the other DAW's (recording & editing software) from the app store to edit it. There will be a learning curve if he's never worked with audio before....the other option is for YOU to edit it on your PC then upload it to Dropbox...
