Fog is in nursery now, and blazing is now breeding.. Hopefully soon ill get a rare!

T'is just like in R/L, the more richness you have,the more money you make. When you have the possibility to acquire new habitats bringing more money or have them all, you decide which ones bring more and are worth to have in multiple copies.
Many of us have benefited the fact that there were a couple of weeks between the time we had reached level 20 and were waiting for the upgrade. We could thus just put a lot of money/food/gems aside which helped alot when the upgrade arrived.
I suspect that the programmers of the game took this into consideration when they introduced the "gold" shrines so that we would have to spend all those savings!

Hey guys, im lvl 17 on dragonVale.

I need help on breeding a rare. My first of course! hoping for rainbow. Lol im like addicted to this game now. Pls post successful combos to help! thanks!

Also how do i raise money really fast? (without rares)

Do you have raindear or blue fire? Because they are quite lucrative. I will start to breed 2 sandstorm and sell the eggs right away (2 hrs incubationtime, sells for 500 000.) but try to have your habitats full, so you get the usual income.

I dont have raindeer or bluefire, tho i have tried many of times to get blue fire.. Thats quite a smart idea! Thanks!!

As from level 20 if i remember correctly, you can purschase a shrine for each type of habitat. Your goal is then to breed and hatch and level up to level 10 50 each of those dragons types. Of course once at level 10 you sell them to make room for the next ones. It is advisable to breed dragons having short breeding ie hatching times.
Once you have done that, the shrine will turn from copper color to silver color and you can level up your dragons to level 15, whereby they get a silly glowing ball on their head. No other benefit then fact that higher level dragons bring more money.
The next goal is then to so the same to reach golden shrines which allows you to level up to level 20 but this is extremely costy in terms of food!

My breeding island finally opened up and I put water and cold on it to do some magic. But with my luck i'm not holding out much hope. Ah well, at least I'm not NOT getting a rainbow or sun...that's a much bigger disappointment. There's a bright side to everything

I just put mine in for the first time too. I'm not holding my breath either, it will be what it will be....probably a ice! Lol I'm not gonna speed it up though because for me that will jinx it for sure!

Yes, but shrines become available two by two or one by one for the last ones so it allows you to complete the task by breeding hybrids of both the required brand. So the first ones are not tooooo difficult to finalize.
