Are these magazines in the Newstand? if so long press them until you get an X to delete.

And just to add to the great advice here, if the magazines are in Newsstand and you just want to delete specific issues of that magazine (rather than the entire magazine app) look for the archive button on the magazine apps library page.

I tried that and while I get the "X" in the corner of the magazine, the magazine never wiggles. When I hit the x nothing happens and the magazine is not deleted.

Any other ideas?

It is just the same way as you delete any app. Just tap the magazine you want to remove and pressing it down until the magazines wiggle and you will see the circle with x inside. Then hit that circle and remove.

I think your instruction is absolutely right. I have tried this instruction and removed magazines from my iPad successfully. It really works. Thanks a lot.
