Deleting email addresses not in contacts?

How do I delete multiple email addresses that pop up when writing email that are NOT in my contacts? Please help?

I hope someone answers. I have searched every place I can think of without being able to find them. Where do they come from?

Unfortunately, it's one of the "helping" things Apple put into the Mail app. It'll remember any e-mail you've put in - even if it's the wrong one. No one yet has figured out a way to delete old addresses.

We're keeping hopes up that Apple figures out that this more annoys than helps and that it'll be better in iOS 5.

For now, the only thing that seems to work is time (because the addresses eventually get pushed down the more you don't use them ... or not).
