can one add extra folders eg "personal" in ipad default email app.

It is possible:

Open the Mail app. Tap your account to see the mailboxes there. Tap "Edit"








Here tap "New Mailbox", this will appear:




Write the name of your new mailbox/folder and save it. It should appear after you've done that:




Tap "Done".
