iPads have been at the center of a teaching improvement theory, and are already promoted for their educational benefits. Just some while ago, schools in America where struggling to buy as much iPads for their students as they could, after a study proved that students tend to learn quicker and better using such devices.

So, advancing towards these directions, here’s Super Speller, an application that enables parents to create custom spelling tests for their children. During a test, teachers often say the words out loud and use them in different sentences, so the child comprehends the meaning of the word. The Super Speller, lets parents do just that, so the iPad version is very similar to the real deal. The Super Speller makes spelling seem more fun for both parent and child.

What’s so special about the Super Speller? Well it was designed by parents, trying to respond to their children needs, using a playful setup in order to make it more interesting to the little learners. There’s also a very helpful study screen where the child can hear and see the word at the same time. When taking the test, there’s the option of working on random words or to write them in the order they were studied. As the child is working on the test, the program delivers the answers, so the little learners know whether they got it right or not.

What other options do you have? Well, you could set a timer for the test or you could use smiley hints. Once the test is complete, they have the option of retaking the whole test or just answering the questions about the words they got wrong. You can store as many tests as you like, and that’s a good thing, because this way you can monitor your child’s progress. The application is available from the App Store for $1.99.
