I did the update as soon as it came out. Everything that worked before works now, but there are several new features. The do not disturb is big for me. No calls or text messages from unknown parties. That was a major feature missing from iOS that was available via an app on android.

I suggest you find website that lists the additional features in iOS 6 to help you make your decision. Not all people have having wifi issues, either. To me staying with older OSes on the latest hardware it just not something I'm willing to do. Older hardware, yes. I want the best OS on my late-model hardware. And for the life of me, I don't see the big deal with the loss of the pervious maps app....it was not nearly as useful as the version on android.....frankly, I have a hard time believing that many people were using it that much. Certainly didn't work for nav. And you can still get street view via the web. YouTube is replaced, so that is not an issue.

I use my wifi on several different routers, too, and it works on all of them.

This update seemed to offer more to owners of the current gen model than anyone else. That's fine, just saying though. Of all the features, not having to enter a password for updates and the email attachment system are the only two I'm really digging. Otherwise, my iPad seems about the same as before. Still working great. I think it's time though for a keyboard update. They must get that fifth row with numbers on it and we need cursor arrows and a forward delete option. Heck, we've needed those things since the first gen I pad. :)

There is a coworker at my job who still only has iOS 4 installed on her iPad 2. I tried hers out yesterday and kept hitting "walls," the limitations of her device, because gestures like the pinch to close an app have become second nature.

I agree with your assessment that the iOS update seems to cater more to the new iPads. The iOS 5 update was a more satisfying experience than 6 has been so far. Maybe that's because the iOS 5 update was geared more for iPad 2 users like me? I didn't pay too much attention to specific complaints about the iOS 5 update, so I don't know if the 5 update was geared more to iPad 2's than 1’s.

And like you I do appreciate some of the new features. I like being able to group key people at work and in my family as VIPs. I'm now primed for the star next to emails in 6.

I also like the pull down function in Mail that we also have as an option in this forum to refresh the screen for new messages.

I'm also getting used to the new App Store experience in 6.

Amy Rose's post in this thread was also my inspiration for my finally taking the plunge and updating to 6.

Yeah, sometimes we don't know what features are really important until we lose them. I agree with you that the upgrade to OS5 was a bigger leap for the iPad 2 than the upgrade to OS 6. Yep, Amy's post certainly rallied the OS 6 troops. :)

Sometimes people who initially appear to dislike a piece of tech but later change their minds are more persuasive than those who give it glowing reviews from the start.
