Can't send email

Had my iPad a few weeks and it's great. Unfortunately it has decided to stop sending mail. Incoming is fine. Any ideas how I've managed to break something so simple?

I have some clients I support that are having the same problem with one of my mail servers. The server doesn't support SSL, which I think may be the issue. They are in iPad2s and on ios 4.3.3. Any suggestions?

Does your server allow port 25 relay? If it's your own server, then you could enable this option, which would bypass the need for SSL. Clearly allowing port 25 relay has its downsides, but you may have other security in place that obviates the need for SSL.

Unfortunately, no. It's not my server. It's a hosted solution and running over port 587.

If your server doesn't support or allow port 25 relay and SSL then there's a problem! My email service provider is the same; I work around this problem by using a 'hybrid' account; I receive my email using my service provider's server, but I send email using gmail, because gmail supports SSL. It works just fine on my iPad.

So did that change with 4.3.3 and then again with 5.0? These guys used to be able to send, but now cannot. Ang I can send fine from mine (I'm on 5.0). But it takes FOREVER to set up the account. Its like the iPad tries all the defaults and then keeps trying different ports until it handshakes.

Unfortunately these are businessmen and there from address really needs to be the email address I've set up for the. I am trying to get them to switch the domain over to gmail servers.

It's a service provider issue not an iPad issue. It only impacts mail sent from a 'foreign' network - i.e. It will work OK on their 'home' network....
