Can't delete a photo from an album

Some photos can be selected and the trash can icon shows up so you can delete the photo. Some photos once selected do not show the trash can icon and I am unable to delete the photo. This drives me to distraction. Appreciate your help.

If the photo does not have the trash can icon, it means that the photo was synced to the iPad from your computer. The only way to erase these photos is to connect your iPad to iTunes on your computer, uncheck the photo from the folder it appears in on your computer, then syncing your iPad.
