Cannot delete invites from others which they have cancelled

Hi there, first post from me. I have an ipad 2, not jailbroken. I get quite a few calendar invites from others. I can accept the invite and it appears correctly in the calendar. But, if they cancel the invite, the email attachment has no "delete event" button and it is not possible to delete the event from within calendar. The only way i can delete it is by deleting it on my phone, which then syncs the deletion with the ipad. Bit of a pain.

Also, when I switch to calendar, it sometimes shows a blank for all of the current weeks' events. If I touch one of the days, the events reappear magically.

Can anyone help, please?

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

You should be able to delete an event from the Calendar on the iPad. First select the event, then press Edit....it should then load with the event, scroll down and you will see a Delete Event tab.....try it and let us know what happens for you.

Sometimes apps just play up and the best thing to do is to close the app completely, then relaunch it.
Just in case you don't know how, and sorry if you do.....if on IOS7 just do the 4 finger swipe up to reveal your multi task bar which shows all the apps you have open. Swipe up on the thumbnail just above the app icon and this will close it.
If on an earlier OS, do the 4 finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal the multi task bar, press any app here until they jiggle and a red minus sign will appear on each, press on the minus sign to close the app.

Let us know if this helps you.

Hi leelai and thanks. I've had the ipad for two or three years and have tried what you suggested but to no avail. However, I now realise this problem arises when i get invites from a particular individual so I think it is her problem!

You're welcome......but it still seems unusual to me that you cannot delete an event in this way. I haven't added an event from an email in such a long time so I can't check one out right now. So, can you delete other events which are added to your calendar by an email but just not from this particular person? I'm wondering why they would be different.

Just thought I'd ask which OS you are on.....you can find this by going to Settings - General - About and look for Version.

Some invitations can't be deleted on your device. There's the possibility to decline them in the app: Calendar - Inbox (bottom, right).

Sometimes the app needs a little longer to upload all events or it gets stuck when syncing them to the iPad. In this case you can force it to sync the events. In Calendar (app) tap "Calendars" at the bottom and drag it down. The "spinning wheel" will appear and show you that syncing is in progress:

I don't think I've ever received an invite, so I don't have any solid advice.

However, if you have access to a computer, try visiting icloud.com in a browser and see if you can delete it from there.

This is assuming you are syncing your calendar in iCloud. If Google or some other provider, you'll want to see what can be done on their sites. Good luck.
