Can I install iTunes without deleting my DVD Drive?

After installing a new SSD I reinstalled iTunes. On rebooting my optical drives were not present. They returned only after I deleted iTunes.

I'm running Windows 7 Professional.

How can I install iTunes without losing my two DVD drives??

Give it another try. I'm not convinced that iTunes was to blame, but it's possible for a variety of reasons, including a corrupt download.

Might be worth clearing iTunes out completely. Bear with me because I haven't used Windows for ages. There are some terms (and places) I may have forgotten.

Look in your program files folder for iTunes and delete the folder. Then do a search, find and delete the iTunes entries in "PreFetch", or whatever it is called these days.

This is a quick and dirty method. Windows programs should always be uninstalled using a proper uninstaller, but when things get left behind there may be no choice.

So, once you have gotten rid of iTunes and every trace of it, you should be able to reinstall it. Delete your previous downloads and use a fresh download, making sure you are using the correct version for your operation system. Check in Control Panel to be absolutely sure (32 or 64 bit).

You can then sign in to your AppleID and download your previous purchases. If the SSD was your main drive, you will have to repopulate iTunes with any non purchased items from the original media.

Good luck. Any problems, get back to us.
