Big Business - game discussion

Congrats to all completing Leave Me Alone. Now I think perhaps I should go for it too. However, I have some reservations. First, I have population of 224000. It will take some time, to put it mildly, to kick them all out. Second, in case of another event requiring massive production I will not be able to use any of my 22 industrial buildings I keep in storage. I have a premonition that the next event will take place on May 1 unless GI is going to ignore their own National Holiday.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I got my 666 achievement several months ago, btw.

I had to plan my decent to zero. Like Noah I keep 2 each of the ranch, dairy, paper, and conf. With 6 farms, sawmill, furniture and refinery to keep up daily contests unique items. Key is to plan the set you want for a long time during the decent. When ready stuff your WH with decorations to prevent fat finger WH moves. It's a good feeling and fun going back up.

Oh yea of little faith. I didn't think I would get marble businessman. Someone will stumble across the answers eventually. Also the special achievements do not count towards the 100%, only the general!

I did not realize that the special achievements did not count. Thanks. Still, the Top is still out of reach.

How would decorations prevent you from fat-fingering WH moves?

Sorry to belabor the cheese vs. CC debate, but I think both items are useful. Both cheese and packaging take 15 min. to complete, so if you're starting out with no packaging in your warehouse, go ahead and use your extra milk trucks to make cheese.

I tend to think in terms of two production modes (sure this is nothing new), short-term (30-min or less) and long-term (2 hours or more). Good short-term items have no raw ingredients that take more than 15 min. to produce. (Muffins, Coconut Flakes, Fruitcake, Cheese/Cottage Cheese, Belts, Chairs). These are great for when you have 30 min. or more to actively play. Good long-term items have the highest profit margins. (Pet Food, Candy, Chocolate Milk, Books). These are great for when you are going to be away for awhile.

OK. My name is Ken and I am a BB addict. I use MS Excel spreadsheets to maximize my productions. Methods: only 2 - return on investment and profit per minute (for short time jobs).

At this stage in my game, I'm beginning to wonder what the heck I'm trying to achieve. Surely I can't beat players like Mockba & RussianWorld, but climbing up the ladder with most coins...hmmmm....kinda boring.

My Terminal is not yet operational which limits me to just churning out gold coins. What's our objective?

OK...we do have a good time here. But what's next? (Sorry, just in a reflective mood at the moment)

I assume GI will keep us interested, something else along the line of ET. There was no terminal, quarry or treasure chests when I started playing and they have also added more general achievements.
I hadn't thought as far down the road as you, I do get bored occasionally and leave the game for a few days, but soon get addicted again. I find it harder to leave now with this forum running along side. (Wanting to know what everyone else is up to).
Once achievements are done and maxed out on buildings and upgrades, there would be nothing left to keep my interest. Certainly couldn't keep churning out the money with no other aim.
Don't you worry GI will think of something else, even if it is another way to get you to spend real money!
P.S. recently found excel spreadsheets for iPad for free. I am a very happy bunny lol

Hmmm....good points. Now my head is spinning twice as fast whilst, I presume, the object of this game is for leisure. Oh well, we chose the game, spent our time building our little cities, generated loads of coins....then be faced with daunting challenges. Kind of akin to real life, I suppose.

Game ON! :)

Oh my what will you do for your commute.

Does anyone know if someone make a portable power supply for iPad. Like for going on long trips (air) where wall outlets not available?

I played temple run on my phone...

I think you can get portable chargers but I haven't idea how much battery life they add.

I had saved this from previous posts. Hope it helps

Is it possible for someone with far better technical know-how than me to put this on the wiki please?

My long-term goals in Big Business are:
- buy every land tile on my board
- win a daily contest
- be able to regularly place in the top 10 for contests, if not the top 3 for more city credits

The first two I think are certainly possible. The second one only if I'm willing to blow tons of credits on production boosts and instant completes. The last one, based on all our discussions may not be. Even with a stream of credits for top 3 finishes, I won't be able to by a long term production bonus on a daily or even weekly to compete. So, I may just hang it up after the first two.

I plan to get all the achievements I can, but may not try for all of them, specifically the social media ones. It feels... weird to create a twitter and facebook account for no other purpose than to obtain achievements.

Alright, I am starting my enforced emigration project, something our government does not have guts for. To accomplish this major undertaking, I decided that from now on...

1. No contest participation
2. No toys (toy factory is in storage which means missing out on some daily assignments)
3. No tortillas or waffles or ice cream. This one is gonna hurt
4. Keep operational 6 farms, 3 ranches, 3 dairies, 3 mills, 2 confectionaries, bakery, 2 paper mills, sawmill, furniture and weaving factories, all my heavy industry (4 plants)

I decided on 3 mills because of starch. I get to make starch at least twice a week. Also, it is useful for making sugar. The remaining 2 are mainly for flour.
I would like to have one more conf but I guess I just have to do without it.

Pray for me, folks. 224000 pop.

EDIT I just figured out that if I raise pop to 225000 I could have my third conf. Lol, what is one more thousand in the grand scheme of things.

Sounds like a god plan...good luck and keep us posted.

How would decorations prevent you from fat-fingering WH moves?

{Summerville; the head honcho - Elloriana, need hammers and drills}

Normally when you fat finger a building on the storage button it just puts it into storage. If your storage is full it asks you if you want to buy more space, preventing the immediate move to storage. I had more industrial building in my city but got moved to storage and I could not put back.

Oh, I see. No worry, my storage is full with 22 buildings in it.
