Barnes & Noble is running a new promotion offering book lovers a free weekly collection of high-quality, special-edition classic e-books on a variety of platforms, including the iPad. Each week, for a limited time only during the summer, you can choose from approximately ten free e-books, all available for immediate download. Barnes & Noble kicks off the promotion today with "Books That Made Us Love Reading", which includes the likes of Alice's Adventrues in Wonderland, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Grimm's Fairy Tales, Little Women, Peter Pan, Secret Garden, Tarzan of the Apes, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Treasure Island and Wind In the Willows. The theme and selection of free titles will change each Friday, with upcoming weekly themes including romance, fantasy, adventure, and books that inspire movies.

All you need to do to enjoy free e-Books on your iPad is download the free B&N eReader app from the iPad App Store, then go to BN.com/FreeLibrary to check out the week's free books.

Lucky for us all of these books are already free in the iBook store on your iPad already. For those of us craving a little more modern literature, Baen books offers free sci-fiction novels in electronic form on there web site.

You can also get those older books at project guttenburg. Perfect for school reading assignments. :)
