I'll be traveling with my iPad and would like to let my traveling companion use it. Am I able to back up everything, restore it to factory fresh settings (so mail and photos are gone), take the trip and when I get home restore all my apps, photos, etc?
If so what are the steps I'd follow to do this?
Thanks

Yes. As long as your friend is not using your apple ID where he would be able to restore it and or pull purchased apps from the cloud.

Hi CCflyer - welcome to the forum! :)

Backing up & restoring the iPad can be done using iTunes or iCloud - see this Apple Support Article for specific directions in using either method.

Resetting the iPad to factory settings can be done w/i the General selection in Settings - see an explanation HERE.

Now this seems quite drastic but I'm sure that you have your reasons - and I'm not sure which iPad model you own and which iOS was present originally, so you still may need to do further updating after the factory reset - good luck and please post back if you have further questions!

Thanks very much for the info.

Now I'm trying to find the backup file I created. I read I could fine it here: Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup but I don't find a sub dir "MobileSync". I do have one called SyncServices with subs "Clients" and "Schemas" but don't find anything that looks like an iPad back up in them. What am I missing??
Thanks
