Does anyone get good results from Auto-Brightness? On my two iPads, from iOS 7 to 10, the automatic adjustments are hardly ever appropriate, usually either far too light or dark to be useful. As a result, I switch it off and control the brightness level in the Control Center.

I tend to set the brightness at the dim end of comfortable readability, FWIW.

Having a case on your iPad can affect the accuracy of your auto brightness. Some cases cover the sensor which is usually located above the cameras in most models , except the Air 2 and Pro Series.

At night, if I decide to read in the dark or a very dim room I may have issues with the setting, they are typically too bright.

In moderate light I may have problems if the light source does not fall directly on the sensor. Sometimes when I pick up the iPad the screen becomes unacceptable dim until I tilt it to catch more light.

Most of the day, in typical (for me) lighting, I have no issues.

I typically have the brightness set between ⅓ and ½ the slider. If either of the two issues mentioned appear I can almost always solve them by adjusting the slider outside its normal range. I almost never need to turn auto-brightness off.

I like everything in 'torch' mode.. Full manual brightness on my Pro 9.7, iPhone 7 Plus and Apple watch series 2 :)

I do turn down the iPad sometimes when I'm using it in the car at night or in other dark environments.

Maximum brightness :)

This term is usually applied to demo TV sets in electronic shops. They set the brightness way higher than a person would have it set in their home. It's to make the TV look better on the shelf.
