Audio Layers

Is it possible to add multiple audio layers on an iPad, like you can on a PC or Mac? You know music creation apps lets you have multi-tracks and for some have multiple inputs at the same time, and I was wondering if someone can remotely control the sound input and output of devices while they are connected through the internet.

The most obvious sugestion is Apple's GarageBand. I think it will handle 16 tracks, or maybe only 8, I forget. Multiple (simultanious) inputs would require external hardware, probably.

There are other apps, but I a can't think of any names at the moment.
