Splurging out the extra simoleons to purchase an LTE-enable iPad can be tough for some of us, it's a big purchase all at once. But it looks like AT&T is giving its customers an option to, in a way, convert a WiFi-only iPad into one with LTE.

AT&T's Modio Smartcase was shown off at CES 2015, which is basically an iPad case with a built-in LTE hotspot. While not the prettiest of iPad cases, the Modio Smartcase has a 4,600mAh battery, which should last about ten hours of usage. The case also has a built-in microSD slot, where owners can transfer files from an iPad to AT&T's Modio Data companion app.

It looks like there's no release date for case case as of yet. But the #2 carrier in the nation said it will be available "soon" for the iPad Air, iPad Air 2, and all three generations of the iPad Mini.
