If you want to mirror your iPhone/iPad display onto your HDTV, you can use AppleTV to achieve it.
Swipe up the screen to reveal the Control Center
Then select AppleTV and turn on Mirroring
And that's it. Sound will be output to wherever AppleTV has been told to send it.
