Apple has certainly become the king of the castle in America, with almost half the population owning at least one iDevice. Now the company is spreading its wings of domination towards other continents as well. Nikkei BP Consulting just last week awarded Apple with the first position of Japan’s top consumer brand for the first time in history. The Cupertino Company saw a miraculous rise which started last year when it came in 11th place. This year things are different and brand power has been awarded to Apple who snatched 90.5%.
Apple did not get quite so lucky in the business sector, after Toyota. It did manage to grab second place, thanks to the iPad and other products. Nevertheless, this is very interesting news since Japan has been known for its reluctance to adopt foreign technology. Microsoft for example has been having quite a few issues trying to introduce the Xbox and the Xbox 360, since it is no easy task to replace Nintendo and Sony.
The survey targeted the consumer category including 1,000 brands, and the business market category with 500 brands. The study was conducted online over November and December 2011. 52,000 people aged 18 and older contributed to the study’s findings. Apple does not stand alone in its quest for conquering Japan. Samsung, has been trying its hand in the land of the rising sun but it did not experience too much success. The Galaxy S II for example experienced a brief moment of glory but overall it did not experience any massive success.
