I haven't attempted this, but *if* apache server were used to create a home website on a Mac, could that site be ftp'd into by an iOS device? One could not only develop sites, but also manage the files, in and out?
There are several apps that are capable of making FTP connections and browsing/transferring files that way. Among them are Documents by Readle and GoodReader. I beleive there are also specialized FTP client apps.
You might be able to use FTP via a browser. Desktop browsers can. The iOS version of Safari might work now. It would not have worked a couple of versions ago. A third part client like iCab Mobile has a good chance of working with FTP.
There are also apps that specialize in site development, like Coda, a powerful text/code editor combined with local/remote file management. Probably overkill for a home website.
The key is you have to know how to find and type in the network address.
