Airprint won't connect over my wifi extender

I have a wireless N router and a wireless extender in my house (both Netgear). When I am on the router, my iPad finds my AirPrint printer (Epson) just fine. When I initially log onto the extender, the iPad can't find the printer. However, if I connect to the router first and find the printer, then connect to the extender after, the iPad can successfully print to the printer. Does anyone have any suggestions?
