AirPlay mirroring

Is there a way to mirror my iPad screen to the tv screen without apple tv or hdmi adapter? Like by using a playstation 3?

None that I know of. I have used both the ATV and the HDMI adapter. The HDMI adapter is the less expensive way to get it done.
