I simply can't find my new "air print compatible" printer. Oh, I can see it as a network and if I enter the password for the printer I can connect fine but, when I change back to my service provider I cant and I have to reboot the modem and my iPad. A right pain. I therefore need to connect via the service provider modem! So. I followed all instructions from HP and from Apple. And I still can't find my printer. I checked with my service provider and they confirmed it has "Bonjour" (what ever that is). Does anyone have any ideas? You lot are my last chance. Thanks guys and gals

PS using a PC and printing is no problem...the plot thickens.

It seems to me that the printer builds up his own network and you connect your iPad to it to print. Airprinting on an iPad shoud work a bit different: your printer has to be connected to the same private wireless network as your iPad.
I don't know how that works with a HP printer. The one I use had to be connected through settings. If you have a manual, see how that has to be done on your printer. Otherwise visit the HP website for support. Also make sure the printer software is up to date.

I'll go along with J.A. on this one.

The most important thing is to ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. Check your printer manual for details.

I didn't know this before testing it, but it is also true that your printer and iDevice must be on the same network.

Just to reiterate some of the issues already discussed - Bonjour is an Apple technology built into OS X & iOS that allows those devices to discover services, such as printers on a network - for yourself, the iPad and the printer must be on the same Wi-Fi network; also the printer (you might want to provide us the model number - assume an HP brand?) must be setup to work w/ the network (bought a Canon Air Print inkjet a year ago - there is a menu option called WLAN which was quick and simple to establish a connection) - good luck! Dave :)
