Just got a s/hand iPAD 16GB, got music and photos on via iTunes, but I can't get the Microsim card activated,
I've tried twice, waiting the 24 hours, nothing, No Service,
What am I doing wrong if anything.???

A couple of questions...

Can you see the signal strength bars on the top left hand corner of the screen? Is the network name displayed there too? I'm assuming not because you mention 'No Service', which is the message that's displayed when the iPad cannot receive a 3G signal. Are you sure you're in a coverage area, because this is what you get when you're somewhere that there's no reception.

All it says at top left is no service, yet check reception area and it shows good.

In General settings it shows "Network not available"

ICCID "No Sim"

Yet it shows No Sim installed when I remove SIM

I'm slightly puzzled that you're getting the ICCID "No SIM" but you see the "No Service". "No service" means that the iPad is not receiving a signal. You'd normally see the 'No SIM" message if there's no SIM installed.

You said in your first post that you 'tried twice' and 'waited the 24 hours'. What exactly did you mean by that? Do you mean you telephoned the Service Provider's support line to have the SIM activated, they told you it would take 24 hours and you've done that twice?

Who is your service provider?

Anyway, get back to us with some further details and we'll try and sort this out.

Just got another message in iTunes. Sim card does not appear to be supported
Only compatible cards from a supported carrier.

Point is how do you find out which is a compatible carrier.?

Its a 3g card at present.

OK - I'm starting to understand what's happened here.....

You say it was secondhand - do you know the guy you bought it from?.....

Is he/she a friend or colleague??

OK - this was probably an iPad that's locked to Orange, so you'll need to use an Orange microSIM. Orange were offering subsidised iPads if you signed up for a contract with them, but the iPads were locked to that carrier.
