4.9 GB in mail storage?

My iPad 2 shows 4.9 GB of mail storage. I only have about 140 messages total. Have deleted all sent, trash, etc. am running three accounts, one IMAP, one POP, not sure of the 3rd. My iPhone (same accounts) shows about 450 MB of mail. iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro all linked and all with 7.0.4. Any suggestions for how to delete this monster amount? I can't even find the space where it seems hidden!

Many thanks!

Hi, StatmanM! Welcome to iPF!

Your iPad will not only show the storage needed for emails in your accounts, but also the storage that opened attachments use.
See if this will reduce the amount:
Delete the accounts on your iPad, then reinstall them. (Do this in Settings - Mails, Contacts, Calendars.) Take a look at your usage afterwards.
