Hello,

I am brand new to the Apple world.. spent about 1 1/2 hours in an Apple store and I am hooked.. Been doing MS development for about 25 years, but after seeing Apple, MS is years behind and completely doesn't get it...

IN the Windows world like with WPF and Silverlight development, there are a ton of 3rd party control vendors... I assume that isn't the case in the Ipad/Mac development world? If that's the way it is, I am not complaining.. thats a good thing... If I understand the Mac development mantra is that Apple provides the sole source of these controls/tools... correct?

Thanks
Harold

To a certain extent yes ie. Xcode ide and SDKs for creating native apps, objective-C etc. However you can still use other tools, i.e. Adobe Air or Html5/CSS / javascript to create Web Apps.

OK, thanks... I was thinking more of the lines of 3rd party control makers like Telerik that makes controls for Windows forms, asp.net and wpf. Enhanced and additional controls to the native suite.... If there isn't this model in the Mac world, that is actually good... it was getting ridiculous managing all of the 3rd party stuff...
