Walmart announced today that it has optimised the navigation experience of its VUDU subscription-free, video-on-demand movie service for the iPad, enabling iPad owners to rent or buy entertainment content and then stream it easily via their iPad. In order to access the service, simply point your browser to if you’re in the US, where you can browse through VUDU’s entertainment content library, which includes more than 20,000 blockbusters, Hollywood classics, independent films and TV episodes, then rent or buy them and watch them instantly.

According to the VUDU blog, restrictions by content providers mean that playback is SD only, but you can view a movie that you purchase on your iPad in HD or HDX on your TV. Also, some other companies, such as Walt Disney Corporation, have not permitted VUDU to use their content on the iPad. This means that you can purchase it on your iPad via VUDU, but you just can’t view it.
