Visiting NYC in September and thinking about buying a iPAD 32/64GB WIFI no 4G. Will it work ok in UK ? Do I need to alter anything? etc. ?

No, nothing necessary to be altered. Bought my iPad2 WIFI in Portland last year, just started it up with my iTunes and everything was set up like I wanted it to.
    Believe me, it is MAGIC!
