".url" added to each of my bookmarks somehow

    I edited my bookmarks yesterday on my PC and when loaded into my iPad and Safari on my PC, they now have ".url" added to each bookmark. How did this happen? How do I remove them all at once? Or do I have to edit all 1,000 of tthem individually?
