Is there any way, or any app, which can do this?

I want to find a way to get an alert when a new episode of a podcast I like is issued?

You can subscribe to a podcast series on various apps. I recommend Downcast, which is a couple of bucks, if I recall correctly, and has great reviews. With iOS 5, Apple broke many features (including ones for podcasts) in its Music app. Many users have turned to other apps, such as Downcast.
