I have seen in reasonably old articles on the web the issue Noterize had of flattening a .pdf and making the old text unsearchable. I was wondering if someone using Noterize could clarify for me whether this was still the case or not. Thanks for any info.
I'm afraid so. Most notebook apps handle pdf by converting it into many image files. When it flattens, it complies a new pdf from these images. In this case, the pdf created is not searchable. Noterize is obviously one among these. I imported a 100k pdf and the pdf export becomes 700k. I then look at noterize.sqlite, the app converts the pdf into images and stores them in ZUNDERDATA.ZDATA If you need to keep your text, better use proper pdf apps such as iA or goodreader.
