Need to record interviews for PhD research any suggestions?

You might want to take a look at Soundnote. It does a good job of recording in an office or conference room setting. You can type your notes as you record the interview. Tapping on the written notes later will replay the recording at that point. What's really nice is that you don't have to take detailed notes, just enough to serve as an index to the recording. You can focus on the interview without worrying that you are missing anything.
