Hi:
I am a newby. My granddaughter lost face time on her iPad2. She tried to recover it in settings but it just will not recover. I have the original iPad so I can't play around to see if I could help. Any thoughts?....pp

I would check restrictions in the Settings App>General>Restrictions to see if it's been set to restrict access to it.

Thanks, but restrictions were off. It takes 30 seconds to load and then there is an error MSG that says error occurred during activation. Tried creating a new account but it does not load???.......pp

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

So you still have the FaceTime icon but it's not working? Close the app completely and then relaunch it.
From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar. These are all the apps that you have opened at one time. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it, now press the home button to return to your screen. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly. Now see if it's working and let us know.

Thanks, I appreciate the responses. No luck with closing the apps. My granddaughter says that she shut the face time off in settings but could not recover it when she turned it back on. I told her to try at another wifi location other than at her home. Thinking maybe it has something to do with her router or service. Just a wild thought.

I have had my iPad from about day one and am very happy with it. Couple of bumps at times but most things seem fixable. Guess the only big negative is not having Adobe Flash Player.........pp

Oh good to know the extra info. FaceTime needs to be turned on and then set up in the notifications centre also. I would try a restart and or reset here to get it working again. You may also need to set it up again with your ID too.
Restart: Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will restart. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running well. Now see if it is operating. If not a reset is the next step.

Reset: Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. This is a reset.

Here is a link that will explain Flash, there are some work arounds you can try

Let us know how the FaceTime issue works out.

Well, my granddaughter tried all of the fixes and nothing seemed to work. She went down to Starbucks and rebooted there and everything came back. It must be something goofy in her Wifi at home. Everything works now even at home. Thanks for all the advice, I appreciate the time you spent trying to help out and so does my happy granddaughter.......pp
