Panda Security’s anti-malware PandaLabs has revealed that malware designed to infect jailbroken iPhones can also target the iPad. Panda says that all malware designed for jailbroken iPhones, such as the iPhone/EEKI.A worm, will have the same ability to infect and spread to iPads and iPod touches. Panda stresses that the malware only infects jailbroken Apple devices. In their blog, they say that Apple’s strict control over the iPhone and iPad hardware and software means that so far malware has been unable to target un-jailbroken devices, although they say that doesn’t mean it won’t happen in future.
