Hello,

I got an iPad 2 recently, and I am trying to figure if I can have HD on the netflix app.
When I watch a (netflix) movie on the mac, it clearly says "HD".
The same movie on the iPad does not show the "HD" label.

I did several searches, but found nothing that directly and directly answers the question: do I get HD resolution when streaming netflix movies on the iPad ?

I'm pretty sure it's at least streaming 720p video but it all depends with your wifi connection speed....N being the best to stream HD content. Is your mac wireless or Ethernet? which also makes a difference. Wouldn't expect HD thru 3G as well.

The Mac is hardwired to the modem, average download speed is 7 Mbps.
The iPad can download @ 5 to 7 Mbps depending on location.

I think it's because the iPad is not "true" HD. It only is 540 pixels high iirc (not 780 or 1080 for HD),

Um, no. It's 1024x768. Which is enough for 720p.

No idea where you got 780, although you did get 1080 correct. One out of three isn't too bad... I guess.

WOW! I was way off! Guess that's what I get for just guessing off the top of my head. No idea where the 780 came from either, I know it's supposed to be 720. I'll move along now... *hanging head in shame*

Thanks all for the comments - but the main question remains unanswered:

Does Netflix on iPad support HD?

That has been answered. Yes. Can we close this thread now?

I believe what was said is that the iPad supports HD - I didn't see anybody stating that Netflix supports HD on the iPad.

But, if you are saying Netflix does support HD on the iPad, then yes, close the thread.
