ipad 2 not being recocgnized by my itunes after upgrade to itune 10

Hello,
I just upgraded my itunes to the newest version 10. Then when i plugged in my ipad 2 it didnt recognized it and I was afraid to sync apps since it said I may loose what its on my ipad already and the apps page on itunes was gray.
Can anyone let me know what is going on?
