Morning guys

I got an iPad for Xmas which is really exciting.

I have used an iphone for sometime so whilst I feel I have some basic knowledge I also feel like this is the start of a whole new learning curve.

I am hoping to use this as an additional work tool, but I will still ned to use my laptop for connection to internal servers, although I do have VPN (so it may just be a case of getting used to the iPad) - who knows.

My hobbies include cross-stitch, photography, riding my motorbike, watching cricket, fine dinning and studying. (brilliant to see the OU have brought out an app - not before time!), as well as the normal everyday things of working looking after our home and keeping the kids entertained. I a well interested in the functions, apps and tools that the iPad has to make my life easier. :)

One thing I do know is, as promised the iPad is like an extension of me - totally addicted...... :))) my partner has practically become an iPad widow.

One thing I am struggling with is the apps - I can not see an update all button - I then start to press them individually and after the first couple it says they are all updated (when there were 48 to update and I only pressed 2???) when I then pick the iPad up again the 48 then re-appear so they are clearly not all updated.

Also I have mine and my partners iPhones registered to iTunes on the same computer- I have clearly got them mixed up together so our apps appear on each others devices and we are asked for each others passwords when we come to update our apps, is there an easy way to fix this? (I get bored really easily so stop searching for a solution) Any help on these would be great.

I hope I've not bored you too much, too much information as per normal.

Debbie. X

Hi there Debbie and welcome.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Finally, if you still haven't had enough, how about a video explaining about our other forums (note:you may want to play this at half speed but hey, why shouldn't Phil be excited about our forums!)

Hi Debbie and welcome to the Forum!

Regarding your questions I have also had to do updates where the Update All button doesn't show up. I find though that if I switch through the different sections and then back to updates, the Update All button will suddenly appear. Hope it works for you too.

As far as your iTunes question goes you can set up several devices on the one computer, it may be an idea to log into your computer under your different user names and then iTunes will keep them separate for you. As far as the problem you have now it may be best to get iTunes sorted on your computer first and then sync your devices back on it and it should get rid of your partners apps.

A very informative thread from which you will learn many tips and shortcuts for the IPad.

Enjoy!
