I just bought an ipad2 32GB and am already thinking I made a big mistake. I tried downloading the "Pages" app and it says I need to upgrade to iOS 5.0. I would think my ipad would have the latest OS. What the heck is going on? I bought the ipad so I could write client contact notes while in the field with clients and I have no need or desire for an ipad if I can't do that. HELP!

Hi LindaK - welcome to the forum! :)

Not sure 'when' you bought your iPad but the iOS5 upgrade was a recent release - just wondering if you were caught in the 'transition' - not sure?

First, go to your 'Settings' option and then press on 'About' - what version is listed? If you are less than 5.0 then you will need to upgrade your iPad to that version in order to use the current releases of the iWorks apps, i.e. Pages, Numbers, & Keynote - sorry for the problem!

Second, let us know if this is not helpful - post back to this thread for further advice as needed - good luck!

Hi Lindak and welcome to the Forum. I'm so sorry that your first experience with the iPad has been this. As Giradman has said it is a rather new update and can be quickly remedied. If you need guidance with the update, there are many here to help you. It is a bit of a learning curve to go through but the iPad truly does makes our lives so much easier and enjoyable with what it can do for us. Enjoy!!

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad
