I pad 2 stuck on Apple Logo

Hi Guys,
Hope you can help and keep it simple.

My son has an ipad 2. 2 years old - not done any upgrades or "jailbroken" - though not sure what that is.

It has IOS 7 on it.

Holding power button does nothing - pressing home button does nothing.

I've read some of the other posts and it looks like you have to restore it.
If we can fix problem without doing that, would be good.

Do you need any other info?
Can anyone help?

Hi, welcome to iPF!

Try to press Home and Power button at the same time and watch what happens.
Usually the iPad should power off, then display the Apple logo again and start on it's own. That's called a reset. If the device doesn't react, you have to restore the iPad, or place it into recovery mode, if restoring doesn't help either.
