How do I transfer of data from old imac to new ipad?

Hi, The user guide advises to go via itunes but I have an old mac OS X 10.3.9 which can't update itunes. When I connect the imac to the ipad the photos I have taken on the ipad automatically stream up to the mac, but I need the ones from the mac to go into the ipad. Also files and contacts, I have hundreds.

There's an isync app on the mac could this replace the icloud via itune option? But after connecting the pad and mac I get this notice : Turn on .Mac synchronization or enable a device and try again. Does anyone know how to do this?
Otherwise it says to sync to a blackberry, I have a blackberry so perhaps I could go via it to the ipad?

Hi there and welcome.

If you just want to get those photos then you can install Dropbox (free app for both iPad and iMac or online) and drag your photos into it and they will then be accessible to both the iPad and iMac.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. Problem.. the dropbox app won't install on the imac, it says each time it has 'encountered a fatal error and has to terminate' Where can I go from here?

More problems : I went to dropbox on the ipad to open it and it says the email or password is incorrect. it has to be the email, I must have made a typo when I set it and now it won'send the password to the email account either so I'm stuck. I removed the icon from the homepage and started again but it was isdentical, saying wrong password or email. And I haven't even started usung it yet!

Sadly the dropbox won't download to the old imac either...

I should have paid more attention.....OSX 10.3 is very, very old so you are trying to use the latest technology with very old tech, it may be possible to find a web based workaround but truthfully the problem lies with the age of your Mac I'm afraid. I'm assuming you have something like a G3 iMac so you are really in need of an upgrade.

If you set it up with the wrong email address, just simply set up a new account with the correct one. You will get some sort of confirmation email to that address, and possibly an activation link as well.
