Engadget reports today that HBO has just announced its forthcoming HBO Go streaming video app via a YouTube teaser video. The app will be free to HBO subscribers, and will be available to download via the App Store from May 5. According to the video, the app will offer instant and unlimited access to all episodes of every season of some of your favourite TV shows, such as The Sopranos, Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm, as well as blockbuster movies such as Avatar. Viewers will also have the choice of streaming content over Wi-Fi or 3G. It’s take almost a year for HBO to get the app off the ground, with Bloomberg reporting on HBO Go for iPad and iPhone as far back as last August, when it quoted HBO Co-President Eric Kessler as saying that the app would be available in six months time. It may have taken them a little longer to get it up and running, but I’m sure all HBO’s subscribers will looking forward to finally getting streaming programming on their iPads and iPhones.
