5 stars to this thread!!!
a wicked and dead simple free app to use is called "Free Video iPad Converter" available at Free iPad Converter Software - Free iPad Video Converter to convert video to iPad its a great little app for Windows. Did any of guys also try out VLC? It has been working amazingly great for non HD videos and has played TV episodes and movies in DIVX and also FLV
I had a similar challenge, and I used AVS editor before doing the conversion. With AVS video editor I was able to edit the movie... I hope this helps
I agree, simple & plenty of preset formats.
For PC users, try SUPER. It's pretty good:
MPEG Streamclip is very good if you run OS X.
This is a pretty cool useful informative which is really help for those who are not familiar in this matter. Thank you so much and it would be appreciated...........
What about FreeMake? It's on Cnet's download site, and I've been using it to convert movies to iPad. It's free, simple, and converts to a ton of different devices. It's way slooooow though.
anyone using this?

It seems that all the converters are way slow. If I convert a movie and usually do it before going to bed and it will be done by morning.
As far as free video converter: Handbrake, MPEG Streamclip, ffMPEGx, Visual Hub, VideoMonkey, ... ;; there are many out there, but not one is really the best for all, sometimes one has to use this one, and then one has to use that one.
Ended up being an AnyDvd issue.
Combination of dvd43 and handbrake seems to be the best and simplest way to get dvds onto the ipad.
