iPad mini rumours are gathering pace now, with AppleInsider reporting today on a new story that says that the new, 7-inch version of the iPad will be built at Foxconn’s new factory in Brazil, with production starting this September, ready for the smaller tablet to be released in time for the holidays. The news comes from Japanese website MacOtakara, which says that a reliable source in China has told them that CNC machine testing for the new device has finished in China, and the next stage is for the tablet to enter production in Brazil. As AppleInsider notes, parts of this story are in contradiction to other recent reports about the forthcoming iPad mini, many of which have said that the new tablet will be released in the fall. However, an end-of-year launch could be more likely, as Apple is widely expected to launch the next iPhone this fall. The sources for this latest story liken the new iPad mini to a third-generation iPod nano, as opposed to a smaller version of the iPad, although they also say that it is as tall as Google’s Nexus 7, and slightly wider, while also being slimmer than Amazon’s Kindle Fire.
