Fonts shrinking when logging on to eBay and other sites

There are times that when logging on to eBay, the site, not the app, the fonts will shrink to a very small size.
It happened with this site today. We took the iPad to the apple store they indicated it was the site and we should use the app. Anyone else had this issue?
