I'm a newby on ipad. I have downloaded an app to print via wi-fi on my ipad. Unfortunately my printer has some issues and i now have to run an executable on my PC also linked via wi-fi to the printer.
Problem now is that i only have internet access on my ipad and not on my PC. How can i download the .exe on my ipad and then move it accross to my PC?

There are some apps that let's you download files. iDownload is one of them I think. Then you connect the iPad to the PC and access the shared folders in iTunes for that app.

Can the iPad share tether? If it's possible like on the iPhone, then you can use it as a wifi access point (assuming that the PC has a wifi card)

Is there a local network that both Pc and iPad can access? If so, then you can use an app that can download and share it's content vi wifi. Then it's a matter of accessing the iPad shared content (http or FTP)

It all depends on wether the PC has iTunes installed or if you can have a local network for both of them.

Most public libraries have public computers with wi-fi and allow you to use a flash drive to download files. Most library computers are PCs, so getting your .exe file downloaded should be doable. Or have a friend download the file to your flash drive. If you don't have a flash drive, they are inexpensive these days and are handy to have around.

You can download the .exe file to the iPad using GoodReader using it's built in browser (if the site lets you see the file) Then using the wi-fi connection feature and a browser on the computer you can copy the file to the computer; as long as they are both on the same wi-fi network.

There is also a GoodReaderUSB app that can be used to transfer files via USB; but since you can't download stuff on your computer that won't work this time.

There are probably a couple other apps that will do this, but GoodReader is the one I'm familiar with.

As everyone has said, you won't be able to do anything with the .exe file on the iPad, except download it and copy it to your computer.

Good luck.

The only issue with this is if the .exe is an installer that downloads files rather than the actual application...

I do this all he time though, using my iPad while I'm away from my desktop systems to download .exe, .zip, .tar, .dmg and other file types for later sharing with another device.

Thanks Twerppoet, sounds like GoodReader is just the one I'm looking for. I only want to download the exe and not execute it on the iPad :)
