Variety has a story today about the launch of Disney's Disney Movies iPad app. The app is exclusive to the iPad, and features trailers, movie synopses and film showtimes. You will even be able to use it to buy a cinema ticket, as well as DVDs, Blu-ray discs and downloadable content.

Variety reports that The Sorcerer's Apprentice is the first new release to be featured on the app, alongside 60 other Disney movies that are already in cinemas or out on DVD or Blu-ray

Disney has already had great success with its ABC video player app, which has been downloaded over 850,000 times since April, and more than 4.5 million TV show episodes have been started on the player according to Disney.

The app is free to download from the Apple iTunes App Store, and an iPhone/iPod touch compatible version based on Disney Movies will be available soon, according to Variety.
