I'm in need of an app that can view .ppt/.pptx files preferably with the following:

  • Offline file storage (Stores files in the ipad memory)
  • Can view embedded images (ability to videos is a plus)
  • Supports the usual fonts (Times New Roman, Arial, etc)
It doesn't necessarily have to create .ppt or .pptx files, all I need is to view them.

Appreciate any help.

One of our members carried out a survey of Office apps for his company; you can see his conclusions in this thread...

The Apple iWorks Office suite for the iPad has a set of useful Help pages that show their capabilities here...

Pages is Word compatible and can read .doc and .docx files and save in .doc and .pdf

Keynote is PowerPoint compatible and can read .ppt and .pptx files and save in .ppt and .pdf

Numbers is Excel compatible and can read .xls and .xlsx files and save in .xls and .pdf

I've read in other forums that keynote doesn't support some of the common fonts and converts them to another font type. Any other alternatives?

Thanks for the reply though.

I use keynote all the time for powerpoint showing
yes its loses some formating when converted but its a not a big deal really for the convenience of using the ipad instead of trailing my laptop everywhere
