I never let people use mine, maybe I'm just greedy. I also don't like people around my car, for the same reason. Teacher is right, people almost never respect your property like you do. I always extend my respect for other people's cars by not leaning, touching, or scratching them, but no one ever does the same. I hate when someone comes up to my car and leans on it...little do people know even skin will scratch paint, especially in a desert climate where there is a lot of dust in the air to be rubbed into the clear coat. /rant

I hear you Matth3w. I don't like anyone leaning on my car either -- drives the heck out of me and you are so right about the dust.

I agree, if someone is going to accidentally drop and damage my iPad, I at least want that clod to be me!

Yep, so you have no one to blame but yourself at least.

Just thought, do you have contents insurance? If it includes accidental damage you may well be able to claim under it.

I'm certainly not going to let anyone near it again!

I don't have the new one yet (they've only just come out here, so there's still a bit of a wait for them) but hopefully I should have a new one by the weekend - I have to give the broken one back to Apple so it won't be going on ebay.

I didn't have contents insurance, but I am looking for a company to insure the new one with (because I bought the original one in the US and I live in the UK, the specialist iPad insurers won't cover me. Do any of you guys know of a company that will?

Rick,

My condolence to your iPad. After hearing your story, I don't think I'll let my 8 yr old boisterous nephew play with it again.....

Hope you find the culprit who dropped your iPad.

Maybe you can get the same friends who played with your iPad to a drinking binge and see who will confess once they are drunk !:D

So I have had actually a similar problem, I got my iPad and immediately installed a full body invisible shield and I baby my iPad and don't let anyone use it. I have never dropped the iPad or been rough with it at all in fact I never take it anywhere unless it is in my padded case. Anyways recently I picked it up and was admiring the beautiful aluminum back and when it shinned in the light I noticed a very small Unevenness in the back... Two slight indents one more noticeable then the other. They are placed and are the size of finger indents however I find it impossible to be able to do that. I am wondering if apple will fix it for free. As i have done nothing wrong yet there aluminum back is very weak on this particular iPad maybe? As of now I have added a hard case. What does everyone think?
