Airprint not waking up HP 6500A plus

My system can work fine, wirelessly with XP laptop and ipad, and usb to imac. when printer goes to sleep, easily wakes up to imac and XP laptop.
Will not wake up with Ipad.
HP solutions has no answer other than plug printer directly int wall, no surge protector and turn off power saver mode.
Neither works...even with power saver off, printer will not wake up from Ipad.
Anyone notice the same issues? Any resolution, other than turning printer off/on or printing from another computer first to wake it up?

So, nobody that has purchased this printer, has any problem with it waking up with their iPad to print, just me?
